2016 Bordeaux

Every time we try a 2016 Bordeaux in the office we are always slightly taken aback by just how good the vintage is. 2019 runs it very close – the differences are stylistic – though 2016s have a distinct “correctness” to them, a cool freshness and poise, something just right. It is a vintage for lovers of what you might describe as “proper” Bordeaux. Looking back at the report on the Southwold tasting of the vintage, written by our Chairman Stephen Browett, the conclusions were “I cannot recall a vintage that was as consistently good as 2016” and that “2016 is really a perfect modern vintage.”

The added beauty of 2016 is these qualities can be found at all price levels, from £10 per bottle to £1,000 per bottle.
