Domaine d’Eugenie was formed following the purchase of the former Domaine René Engel estate by Artémis Domaines (owners of Château Latour, Château Grillet, Eisele Vineyard, Clos de Tart, Champagne Jacquesson and now Maisons & Vignobles Henriot) in 2005. The entire crop of 2005 was sold off in bulk, and the first d’Eugenie vintage was 2006.
The domaine is blessed with some outstanding vineyard holdings: the original Engel parcels in Vosne-Romanée, Echézeaux, Grands Echézeaux and Clos de Vougeot have been augmented by holdings in the Côte de Beaune of Montrachet, Bâtard-Montrachet, Meursault 1er cru Poruzots and Chassagne-Montrachet.
The investment here has been considerable as you might expect and, under the stewardship of Frédéric Engerer and winemaker Michel Mallard, the quality here is very much at the top, especially so in recent vintages.
