Fairly opulent rendition of Grosses Gewächs with immense concentration of ripe fruit well balanced by a generous amount of acidity. Lots of substance, not too dry.
This stunning wine offers a slightly ripe nose of pear, mirabelle, gooseberry and melon, all wrapped into fresh herbs and spices. This nose then gains significantly with air as the fresh side takes over give great airiness to the wine’s bouquet. However, at this stage, the true class of this wine only comes through on the superbly well balanced palate, where complex flavors of fruits wrapped into smoky minerals give great depth and presence to this expressive rendition of Altenberg. The finish is incredibly long and persistent and the after-taste is all finesse and elegance. What a stunning wine in the making! 2018-2030
