The 2010 Napanook (98% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2% Petit Verdot) reveals a pungent, spicy, earthy, slightly herbal nose, and an exuberant mouthfeel with lots of plum, licorice, red and black currants and a hint of sweet cherries. The wine is slightly more in-your-face and aggressive than most Napanooks, but I enjoyed its exuberant style. Drink this beautiful 2010 over the next 12-15 years.
The 2010 Napanook emerges with sweet floral notes, black cherries, menthol, cloves, pine and incense. Beguiling and beautiful, the 2010 impresses for its overall harmony and total balance. I don't see the level of pure density found in the 2009, but some of that may be because of the wine's recent bottling, about one month before this tasting. Exotic aromas and flavors continue to develop as the wine sits in the glass. This is a striking showing from Dominus. The 2010 Napanook is 98% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2% Petit Verdot. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2025.
