The 2015 Pinot Noir Bloom's Field is another magnificent wine from Domaine de la Côte. Floral and savory notes make a strong opening statement, but the Bloom's Field also has more than enough depth to balance the more lifted elements that are present. The tannins need time to soften, but the Bloom's Field is shaping up to be a jewel of a wine. Drink 2020-2033.
Incredible scent – an absolute knockout. Stemmy and herbal yet vivid with cranberry and rhubarb fruit also. Soy and leather. Glossy and perfumed and fragrant. Such beauty. The flavours are extravagant and opulent and show forceful personality without the slightest hint of over-indulgence. Stellar. (RH)2019 - 2035
There are a mere 700 bottles of the 2015 Pinot Noir Bloom's Field to go around, but the wine is well worth a special effort to track down, unfurling in the glass with a lovely bouquet of raspberry preserve, candied peel and the distinctive notes of iodine and nori that this site seems to unfailingly deliver. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, velvety and concentrated, with sappy acids, lovely inner-mouth perfume and a sapid, saline finish. I'm inclined to give a slight edge to the even more intense 2016 rendition, but this 2015 is certainly one of the very finest wines Domaine de la Côte has produced to date, and with a few years of bottle age, it may prove me wrong.
