A hint of wood combines with spicy, elegant, fresh and ripe white orchard fruit, citrus and a plethora of floral characters. There is impressive power and mid-palate concentration to the extract-rich middleweight plus flavors that coat the palate before terminating in an intense and attractively dry finish that delivers first-rate persistence and complexity. This is also very tightly coiled but extremely well-balanced and overall, is a wine that should amply repay 12 to 15 years of cellaring.
A lovely wine in the making, Jadot's 2021 Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru Les Demoiselles (Domaine des Héritiers Jadot) wafts from the glass with aromas of white currants, sweet orchard fruit, freshly baked bread and flowers. Full-bodied, satiny and incisive, with good concentration, racy acids and a long, saline finish, it's one of the highlights of the range.
Clean mid yellow. Fine and discreet, a bit of weight, not too austere a limestone character, but this is Demoiselles. More weight shows through on the palate, some greengages, good tension, with some persistence. Drink from 2028-2035. Tasted: October 2022
