Piuze's 2022 Chablis Grand Cru Les Clos is a powerful, muscular wine, mingling notions of orange and mandarin with toasted nuts, dried white flowers and iodine in an incipiently complex bouquet. Full-bodied, broad and layered, with notable structuring dry extract and a long, resonant finish, it's quintessential Les Clos. Drink 2025-2040.
Pungent aromas of moderate reduction and wood toast dominate the fruit. More interesting are the big-bodied and overtly powerful flavors that are also like rolling small rocks around on the palate while exhibiting excellent length on the compact and impressively long if, somewhat surprisingly, rustic finale. While the nose should clean up with a few years of bottle aging, it's not clear that the finish will necessarily become more refined. Drink 2032+
Clear white fruit, very discreet at first then blossoms, and shows its class on the palate, especially up at the front. I find the usual essence of limestone which typifies Les Clos behind. There is a strong, linear finish. Drink from 2028-2038.
