Tasting Notes

Like the rest of the wines from the portfolio, I also tasted the 2020 Sorte O Soro next to the 2019. This 2020 is a little more extreme, with more vibrant acidity than the 2019, a pH of 3.06 and eight grams of acidity. The élevage was seven months with the lees in 500-liter French oak barrels. There is a beautiful citrus touch here, redolent of pink grapefruit peel that makes it piquant and super attractive, coupled with magnolia and white flower aromas. It feels Burgundian and at the same time very Galician. The work with oak has been evolving, and the result is a lot better: the wines are more elegant and subtler. It's expressive and open, really extroverted, aromatic and showy, a little cheeky in a way I love. The palate is fresh and saline, vertical and electric, with pungency, and it's long and vibrant, really tasty. This is unique, symmetrical, pure, crystalline and elegant à la Roulot. It's the finest vintage of the O Soro, silky and with an electric finish. This is the finest wine Rafael Palacios has produced so far. Truly world-class. 1,910 bottles were filled in July 2021. Prices are slowly hiking up. Drink 2023-2035.
