A very ripe nose consists of poached plum, cassis, black cherry and warm earth that is trimmed in just enough wood to comment upon. The succulent, round and caressing middle weight flavors possess both excellent volume and a plush mouthfeel before concluding in a complex if slightly warm finale where the wood reemerges. Even so, this well-made effort carries both its elevated level of alcohol and oak influence surprisingly well. In sum, this is atypical for the domaine, but it seems to work anyway.
