Laura Lardy comes from a family of Beaujolais stalwarts - her brother Yohan and father Lucien both make wines under their own names and she represents the fourth generation of winemakers in the family. The vines are in organic conversion since she took them over from her father in 2017. The vineyard is largely planted to old (65+ years) vines. Hand harvested, spontaneous fermentation, whole bunch fermentation to allow for a little carbonic input ahead of pressing. Elevage is in large old oak barrels. Vibrant ruby purple in the glass, the nose is evocative with violet, fleshy strawberries and rose. The palate is super silky, the tannins melted into the generous, rounded fruit. This is pure pleasure, to be enjoyed while the fruit is vibrant. There is real energy from fine acidity, promoting a long and lifted finish. Very fine and very moreish. This will be deliciously refreshing on its own in the summer months, but equally seductive with poultry and game as the nights turn cold.
