A spectacular nose of spring flowers, forest floor, raspberry and bluer fruits is followed by a medium-bodied wine displaying shocking elegance (a characteristic not generally associated with this big, rich vintage). This pretty 2003 has achieved full maturity and is unlikely to get any better, so drink it up. Drink 2014-2019
Mid crimson with a weak rim. Correct if a little low key on the nose and overall a bit light. Some notes of really sweet black cherries and then acidity. A little inky in texture. Very dry on the finish even if gently vinified in the middle. Though there is good acidity here too and very slightly too intrusive oak. Not forced but just too light and a bit dry on the end. Date tasted 7th April 05.
This is a competent but uninspiring effort. Aromas of figs, plums, and black cherries emerge from this straightforward, soft, medium-bodied, simple, one-dimensional offering. Drink it over the next decade.
An elegant, Burgundian-styled effort, the 2003 Cantemerle exhibits notions of sweet and sour cherries, white flowers, and forest floor. It is a medium-bodied, racy claret to drink young or keep for 10-12 years.
