The 2018 Pinot Noir Oppenlander Vineyard is gracious and nicely lifted. Lavender, spice, dark blue/purplish fruit and mint are all nicely lifted in a mid-weight Pinot that offers an intriguing mix of forward fruit and Mendocino energy. Medium in body, with lovely energy, the 2018 Pinot is a winner. 2020-2028
Bought in from a very cool, isolated vineyard. Planted about 25 years ago on its own roots. Two-thirds 115 and one-third Martini clone. To reach it, keep going north-west from Anderson Valley and it’s about 7 miles from the coast. Quite a popular grower. Picked 19 October. 70% whole cluster. Aged in neutral oak. Quite rich, spicy nose. Satin texture. Fresh and interesting. 2020-2027
