Cotes du Roussillon Les Trois Maries, Domaine Calvet Thunevin 2016

Tasting Notes

One of the finest wines to come from the Roussillon is unquestionably the 2016 Côtes du Roussillon Villages Les Trois Marie which is 70% Grenache and 30% Syrah brought up in foudre and barrels (20% being new). It’s a ripe, sexy, full-bodied effort that boasts awesome notes of black raspberries, blackberries, graphite, and pepper herbs, with some floral notes developing with time in the glass. Possessing fabulous concentration, a seamless texture, no hard edges, and a great finish, it’s a legendary Grenache from the Roussillon in the making. Drink it over the coming 15 years or more. 2018 - 2033

Boasting incredible intensity, the 70-30 Grenache-Syrah 2016 Les Trois Maries is packed with black cherries, chocolate and spice. Full-bodied and rich, the finish is silky and ridiculously long and must be tasted to be believed. There's no heat-derived trace of the wine's 16.2% alcohol; this foudre-aged wine just tastes ripe, round and delicious. Wow! 2019 - 2025
