The 2016 Callabriga, all from Douro Superior, is 60% Touriga Franca, with the rest filled out by Touriga Nacional and Tinta Roriz. It was aged for 12 months in a 75/25 mixture of French and American oak and comes in at 13.5% alcohol. This was, said winemaker Luís Sottomayor, a cool year, and it shows here. Elegant, fresh and lifted, it has bold flavors and grip on the finish. I loved the intensity of flavor. This is beautifully crafted and easy to drink, an understated food wine that should age well.
