Fuller and rounder than the 2019, this 2018 has a honeyed, peachy tone to the nose that is layered with tones of fresh marmalade. The palate is succulent, with measured sweetness and succulent apricot fruit at the core. Lightly spiced with tones of clove and cinnamon, this again has immediate drinkability, but the fine finish suggests you could drink this over the coming 10 years.
A pretty second wine of Rieussec with creamy, cooked pear and apple character. Some soufflé character, too. Medium body, medium sweet and a fresh finish.
Pale lemon-gold colored, the 2018 Carmes de Rieussec is a little youthfully mute to begin, offering glimpses at lemon meringue pie, lime cordial and beeswax scents with touches of baking bread and marzipan. The palate is appealingly rich and packed with citrus and spice layers, finishing long and honeyed.
