As with the Cornish Point, the vines were planted here in 1999, but the wine spends longer in barrel - 16 months for the 2018. Sweet red fruits, light toastiness and a hint of more brambly dark fruits underneath. Chalky and dense, with tannin and red fruit in perfect equilibrium. Pure, sappy and vibrant, this builds in spiciness through to the back end. Very youthful at the moment, this will benefit from a year in bottle before opening.
The 2018 Calvert Pinot Noir displays intertwined briary notes of red raspberries and resinous herbs. It's medium-bodied, with supple, slightly dusty tannins, but there's also a wiry backbone of acidity that further brightens the wine and imparts terrific length on the mocha-tinged finish. 2020 - 2030
