Three barrels of this wine from a single, old-vine parcel is all that Jean-Marie Fourrier bottles under his négociant label, alas, but that's better than nothing. Made without any new wood to give the fruit free rein, this has lots of volume and texture, flavours of red plum and blood orange and a long, spicy finish. 2024 - 2030
The 2017 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru displays aromas of cassis, raspberries, dried flowers and dark chocolate. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, open-knit and velvety, with good depth and concentration for the vintage. This should offer considerable near-term appeal.
