This is the third time I have tasted this vintage from Christophe Roumier and the best bottle that I have encountered. That brambly nose remains intact with less leafiness than I recall, although the aromatics do not possess the complexity of other '93 Grand Crus tasted alongside. The palate is sinewy on the entry, more youthful than I was anticipating with harmonious, light tannins but good weight on the red-berried finish. For me, it is just missing a little personality compared to more recent vintages, but it is still a pleasurable Bonnes-Mares, albeit one I would not buy given present inflated secondary market prices
