This is spectacular. It has a sense of entrancing fragrance and weightlessness but delivers purpose and power. With vibrant red cherry fruits it smells fresh and mouth-watering, with hints of rosehip and pomegranate, underlying spices and background foresty notes of wood and earth. It delivers a smooth-wrapped ball of red cherry flavor into the middle of the palate and unfolds in all directions. Extremely expansive, velvety and supple, it opens in true flower-like form. Beautiful. Drink now.
The Angel Flower vineyard is so named because of the abundance of the yarrow plant on the plot. The nose takes you to Burgundy rather than to New Zealand - perhaps in part due to the plot being more exposed than others, imbuing a delicacy and elegance to the wine. On the palate there is the perfect mix of pure, crisp cherry fruit and the savoury 'sous bois' element that is ubiquitous in great Pinot. Sweet yet savoury, dense yet elegant. 266 cases made, 13% alcohol.
Sappy edged floral red cherry fruit. Highly perfumed and pretty detailed. Pure on the palate with lovely supple elegant fruit. Nice finesse with some green hints and lovely detail.
