Made from 100% Sauvignon Blanc, the Les Champs Libres 2016 Blanc leaps from the glass with honeyed peaches, passion fruit, musk perfume and beeswax notes plus hints of pink grapefruit, cedar chest, struck match and mandarin peel. Medium-bodied with a lovely creaminess to the texture, it has fantastic intensity and depth with a very refreshing backbone and long mineral-laced finish. 2020 - 2029
A killer white, the 2016 Les Champs Libres Blanc (100% Sauvignon) boasts a vivid gold color as well as loads of white grapefruit, white flowers, crushed rocks, and subtle pineapple aromas and flavor. Harvested from a massal selection from the Loire, grown in white clay and limestone soils, this beauty is medium to full-bodied, has terrific mid-palate depth, bright acidity, and a great finish. Give it a few years and enjoy over the following 10-15. 2021 - 2036.
The 2016 Les Champs Libres, produced by the Guinaudeau family of Pomerol's Château Lafleur, is 100% Sauvignon Blanc picked 9, 11 and 13 September, matured in Burgundy barrel with 70% new oak, the remainder one-year old. The nose is generous bouquet with peach skin and light nectarine aromas, nicely defined with lemongrass scents emerging with time. The palate is well balanced with fine delineation, a lovely fatness to this Les Grands Libres, but counterbalanced with that bite and tension to maintain the freshness. There is a hint of ginger right on the finish that persists on to the aftertaste.
