The 2017 Pouilly-Fuissé Terroirs de F. offers up lovely notes of acacia honey, yellow orchard fruit and beeswax. On the palate, it's full-bodied, ample and layered, with a rich, generous profile balanced by succulent acids. It's a gourmand, expressive Pouilly-Fuissé that will be difficult to resist in its youth.
This wine is labelled "Terroirs de F. les Vernays"
This wine is made from fruit harvested in the lieu-dit "Les Vernays" vineyard in Fuissé. This is one of the only limestone soils in the village. Facing to the West, it was picked late in order to reach full ripeness. Both sugar and acidity levels are high. It was vinified and matured all in barrel with 25% new oak. Bright lemon sherbert and white peach on the nose here, which is expressive and powerful. The palate is juicy and bright, with a light smokiness that adds sweetness and depth to the crunchy peaches at the core. The finish is pithy and textural, adding complexity and intrigue to the wine.
A pungent nose features little other than reduction and wood influence. There is better acid support to the equally concentrated and powerful medium-bodied flavors that offer a bit more evident minerality as well on the slightly drier finish. Worth a look.
