This Saint Emilion Grand Cru is a small 4.5 hectare property bought and run by the Figeac team in 2002. A blend of 54% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Franc and 6% Cabernet Sauvignon, the wine is aged in 90% second-fill barrels and 10% new barrels. The average annual production is just 20,000 bottles. The wine is a deep ruby in the glass. The nose exhibits the classic floral violet and cherry blossom notes of the 2012 vintage, with a cool graphite edge to the fruit that adds earthy, cedary complexity. The palate is bright and vibrant with forest fruits and juicy cherries, with just a hint of smokiness from oak. The tannins are supple and round, making this ready to drink now. Though fruit is to the fore, there are just hints of cedar and forest floor in development. The finish is smooth, long and juicy with fruit, and should offer great drinking pleasure over the next 5+ years.
