The 2015 Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru offers crisp, almost clinical aromas of cold stone and flint, with just a judicious touch of reduction that enhances the overall effect. It takes time to gather momentum, but after a couple of minutes it really develops fine intensity. The palate is very well balanced with a live-wire opening: real energy and tension, superb salinity and a very long finish that fans out gloriously. Without a doubt, this is Pierre-Yves Colin's finest 2015—an absolute gem.
This is powerful despite the sleek profile. Lemon, chalk, apple, vanilla and toast flavors are fused to a steely, bracing backbone, playing out on the long, lemon- and stone-tinged aftertaste. Everything is well-proportioned, but this just needs time. Best from 2022 through 2035.
