This exceptional wine was made from grapes grown at one of the most famous Châteaux in Pauillac, Bordeaux. After vinification and maturation in oak barrels for 20 months, it was bottled at the Château and labelled especially for Farr Vintners. Now four years old, this has a rich, cassis-driven nose of nutmeg, sweet vanilla and liquorice. The aromas are very pure, primary and youthful. The palate follows with dense, rich blackcurrant and plum framed by chalky, ripe tannins. Waves of toast and smoke are layered with more exotic star anise and nutmeg. This is juicy and still has plenty of grip, but with a decant it unfurls and is already delicious with food. The structure and length suggest that this has a great life ahead of it, too. Classic "house claret", very much in the style of the prestigious producer, this wine offers the Bordeaux purist a taste of the very best Cabernet Sauvignon from the heart of Pauillac.
The nose has blackcurrants and bramble richness yet freshness the start of the palate quite fresh. Mid richness chocolate, liquorice and tobacco the tannins are firm but ripe well integrated the mid richness is underpinned by fresher fruits bilberry and black cherry. Depth of fruit at the back the finish is long persistent with just a hint of mint. 2018-26
