Fleur de Thénac Rouge, Château Thénac 2014

Tasting Notes

The nose has a fragrant floral charm a mix of black and red fruits lots of interest. There are layers of fruit on the palate peppery and spicy with a mix of bramble and blackcurrant sweetness and freshness. The hedgerow mix gives lots of excitement the sweetness fleshing out the back palate. Drink 2017-2025.

Made from a blend of 60% Merlot, 27% Cabernet Sauvignon and 13% Malbec, the 2014 has been aged for 12 months in 50% oak barrels. With a deep ruby colour in the glass, the nose here has a fresh graphite and cedar note that pairs with black cherries, plums and notes of violet. Light coffee and vanillla notes in the background add a light level of support but are fully integrated into the bouquet. The palate is full of energy with plums, cherries and bramble fruits supported by crunchy, ripe tannins that frame a fresh core of fruit. This clean and vibrant core is built on with notes of coffee, nutmeg and cinnamon, both sweet and savoury through to the long and juicy finish.
