The Maiden, which essentially comes from lots culled from the Harlan Estate, is largely, like its bigger siblings, nearly all Cabernet Sauvignon with just a touch of Petit Verdot and Merlot. The 2014 The Maiden exhibits the vintage’s terrific fruit-forwardness, silky tannins, and plump, succulent personality. It is a wine of considerable intensity, lushness and appeal. The easygoing nature of this vintage belies some serious concentration behind the charm and appeal, but that is why most people love the wine.
Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2014 The Maiden opens with a beautiful exotic spice and potpourri nose over a core of red and black currants, cedar chest, cloves and menthol plus a waft of fragrant earth. Medium to full-bodied, it has a lovely velvety texture and great freshness lifting the spicy flavors, finishing with lingering red and black fruit layers. 2018-2035
