(from a 2.54 ha parcel). Discreet notes of wood and petrol add breadth to the cool and pure aromas of citrus, acacia blossom, wet stone and green apple. There is excellent volume and cut to the tension-filled large-scaled flavors that brim with minerality before concluding in a palate staining, powerful and beautifully persistent finish. This is actually quite rich for a young Chevalier and while it should certainly reward up to a decade of cellaring I suspect that in much the same fashion as the Corton-Charlemagne that it should drink well after only a few years.
The 2014 Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru has an enticing, subtle bouquet, timid at first but soon finding its voice and developing attractive citrus peel, yuzu and tinned apricot scents all struck through with tangible mineral tones. The palate is well balanced with impressive weight in the mouth. It never lets everything go, preferring to remain linear and maintain precision, gently fanning out towards the finish with a pinch of white pepper and vibrant citrus fruit. This is a very well-crafted Chevalier-Montrachet that is imbued with a sense of joie-de-vivre.
