A reticent, even shy but highly complex nose features intensely floral aromas of pure wild red berry fruit, wet stone, sandalwood and a whiff of exotic tea. This is a bit like the Amoureuses in that there is an intriguing contrast between the sheer scale and power of the big-bodied flavors with the silky palate impression that continues onto the massively long finish that is underpinned by very ripe and well-integrated tannins. I particularly like the lovely sense of tension and this should age well for years to come, though once again, note well that this will require ample bottle age before it can deliver all of its considerable potential. This Zen-like effort is unlikely to match the majestic 2012 but it is still a stunningly good Musigny.
