A very balanced Marsau with lots of fresh acidity and bright fruit yet refined and subtle. Medium body, fine tannins and a flavorful finish. Hints of walnuts too. Linear and fine. Needs two or three years to soften.
The 2014 Marsau has a lovely red cherry and raspberry-scented bouquet with neatly integrated creamy new oak that lends it a seductive allure. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannin, quite spicy with black pepper and cloves on the tip of the tongue, a whole packet of tobacco on the back palate. There is a touch of dryness here, but it does possess commendable focus. Give this two or three years in bottle.
This has a slightly rounded feel, with a pretty, plump core of plum and black cherry fruit, laced with a notable but well-integrated tobacco leaf edge. A light loam hint echoes at the end. Drink now through 2020. 3,335 cases made.
