So much blackberry, stone, dried-mushroom and wet-earth character on then nose. Yet it’s a wine that remains clear and focused. Medium-to full-bodied, linear and tannic. A serious wine. Best in years from here. Better in 2022.
Tasted blind. Rich, sweet, opulent but not one of the freshest. Slightly hot finish. Second bottle was more appealing. Clean. But not a standout.

Falling under the Moueix umbrella and based on 70% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Franc, and the rest Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2015 Certan de May comes from a top terroir situation between La Fleur Petrus, Petrus, and Vieux Château Certan, certainly good neighbors to have. It’s a beauty offering medium to full-bodied terrific notes of black cherries, underbrush, spice and dried earth. With fine tannin, nicely integrated acidity, loads of character, and moderate tannin, it’s unquestionably an outstanding wine to drink over the coming two decades. 2018 - 2038
Shows a perfumy profile, with rooibos tea, blood orange and warm raspberry coulis notes leading the way. The structure marries a silky and fine-grained wood feel, letting the fruit smolder through the finish.
The oak is more prominent here than on many of the J-P Moueix wines, but should integrate with time. Firm and serious on the palate, with plenty of supporting acidity, this has notes of plum and dried herbs and a thick core of tannins.
This is very long with chewy tannins and lots of fruit. Full and juicy with a wonderful length. Lasts a long time. Best in years from here.
Dark blackish crimson. Heady, classic friendly Pomerol. Already relatively open on the nose. Mulberries and roundness. Light to medium weight. Not the most ambitious but a friendly beacon for traditionalists. A slightly bitter note on the end.
