Tasted blind at Farr's 2002 Bordeaux tasting. The Phelan '02 displays a ripe blackberry, damp earth, cedar-wood nose with hints of espresso and bergamot. Quite complex. Full-bodied with sinewy tannins, nicely balanced and structured, introverted black, tobacco-infused fruit leading to a fresh, slightly austere on the finish. Well crafted. Tasted October 2009.
Drink 2010-13 Transparent and lively. Lightweight but well balanced and a little chewy on the end.
