Almost floral aromas open the pure and fresh 7% alcohol 2013 Wehlener Sonnenuhr Riesling Auslese Gold Capsule and intermixes flavors of wet stones, lemons and limes. On the palate this is an electrifying signature Riesling of 2013: sweet, lush and piquant and always precise, though super-concentrated. The finish is complex and long, always salty and stimulating. This is surely a wine made for decades.
This delivers a stunningly pure and airy nose of pear, apple and almond which are joined by more exotic fruits on the palate, all bedded in a most silky and racy structure. Despite the utter simplicity and balance, there is incredible depth and compexity at play here and all this ends in a grand finale, in which almond and honeyed apricot woe for attention.
