The 2013 Wehlener Sonnenuhr Riesling Auslese offers a noble sweet, very fine aroma of wet and flinty stones intertwined with grapefruit and lemon aromas. Lovely sweet and intense, but also delicate on the palate, this medium to full-flavored 7.5% alcohol wine reveals a great elegance and finesse and finishes with delicately juicy, grapefruit aromas. (I tasted AP number #15 14.)
This offers a most gorgeous nose of yellow peach, white minerals and flowers as well as a remarkably focused and intense feel on the palate. The finish is quite long and multi-layered. This is a gorgeous effort, retaining some of the classic airiness of the Estate, but repackaging it into a nearly oily yet razor-sharp and focused structure on the palate and the finish. What a stunning effort! 2028-2043
