Another soft wine, the 2007 d-Armailhac exhibits notes of Chinese black tea, plum sauce, and black currants in a round, superficial but attractive, easy-going, complex style. It is best drunk over the next 7-8 years. Drink 2010-2018.
The 2007 D'Armailhac has a very attractive bouquet with ample black fruit laced with violets and blueberry, quite Margaux-like in style. The palate is medium-bodied with svelte tannin, a crisp line of acidity, commendable structure and a lovely graphite-tinged finish that lingers long in the mouth. This appears to have improved in recent years, and it comes thoroughly recommended. Tasted February 2017.
Drink Date 2017 - 2029
A little short right away, but shows attractive berry and chocolate character on the nose and palate. Medium body, soft tannins and a long, caressing finish. Slightly hollow in the mid palate
A pretty successful year for Armailhac. Big and bloody on the nose real opulence and some flavour and character! Hooray! Almost pipe tobacco. Ripe, present tannins. Dry but not drying. Hint of ashtrays which doesn’t sound very nice but let me assure you that it is such a relief to find a wine with some positive flavour Much gentler than wine Croizet Bages. Just a little flat on the finish. Drink 2011-18
Good deep ruby-red. Blueberry, cassis and bitter chocolate on the perfumed nose, lifted by violet (the blend includes 22% cabernet franc). Juicy, spicy and nicely delineated, with good energy and tension in the mouth. Acids are nicely ripe. Finishes with fairly fine tannins and hints of leather and tobacco.
Purple-red, smoky blackcurrant fruit, quite lush and velvety compared to some, good Pauillac purity lifted by Cabernet Franc, expressive and elegant. Drink 2012-17. 4 stars.

An interesting nose this year, different from previous Château d’Armailhac, less voluptuous but perhaps great definition and refinement. Notes of blackberry and bilberry fruit with a touch of the old “copper saucepan”. The palate is very well balanced, lovely ripe rounded fruit with good acidity. Very nice poise and tension with a clean, perhaps light bilberry and briary tinged finish. This is a classier d’Armailhac, perhaps in no small part to Monsieur Dhalluin! Very approachable though short on length, this will make pleasurable early drinking. Tasted April 2008.
