Wonderful aromas of currants and blackberries with hints of spices. Full body, with fabulous tannins and a long and creamy texture to the finish. I love the depth of fruit to this. Best ever from here. Great value for the vintage. Try in 2017
Deep garnet colored, the 2010 Ormes de Pez slips sensuously from the glass with seductive blackberry pie, Black Forest cake and kirsch scents plus nuances of candied violets, hoisin, dark chocolate and licorice. Full-bodied, rich and plush in the mouth, it has a fantastic line of freshness lifting all the decadent fruit to a long, energy-sparked finish.2020-2039
A fleshy, attractive, up-front style of wine with plenty of sweet cherry and black currant fruit along with a hint of licorice, this wine is pure, medium-bodied and very fresh, with surprisingly low acidity for a 2010. Drink it over the next decade.
The 2010 Les Ormes de Pez has a ripe and fruit-driven bouquet with tons of wild strawberry, cranberry and undergrowth notes, well defined if not quite as complex as its peers. The palate is medium-bodied with fine grain tannins. Good acidity, nicely proportioned with a touch of spice on the finish, this constitutes one of the more approachable Saint-Estèphe wines, with the substance to suggest that it will drink over the next 10-15 years. Tasted blind at Farr Vintners 10-Year On Bordeaux horizontal. Drink: 2023-2038
Healthy crimson. Ripe and robust. Big and bold without much care for seduction. Very solid but it will take a lot of time to settle down.
Owned and made by the Cazes family of Lynch Bages, this is a consistently good wine and clearly an aspiring cru classé that produces better wine then many of those who got lucky in 1855. 57% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Cabernet Franc, 34% Merlot, 2% Petit Verdot with ageing in 45% new oak. A deep colour. A complex, enticing, smoky nose with hints of sweet red cherries. Clean and polished with good fatness and richness. Lots of weight and succulent ripe fruit. One of the biggest wines ever from here. Very impressive and certainly of classed growth quality.
Ripe black fruits pack out the nose lots of power. The sweet chocolate richness on the palate is balanced by bright red fruits all adding complexity. The tannins are firm but not aggressive and the black fruits pack out the back palate.
Superb concentration of very ripe fruit, lots of richness and depth, will be very impressive. Drink 2016-28.
The Les Ormes de Pez has a vivacious bouquet with ripe blackberry, briary and cedar fruit - nicely defined and a little more exuberant that its peers. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins, a core of ripe blackberry and raspberry fruit laced with white pepper, leading to a nicely composed, slightly fleshy finish. Forward and alluring - this is a great Saint Estephe that should be afforded a decade in the cellar. Tasted November 2012.
This dense purple-colored 2010 exhibits dark raspberry and blueberry fruit notes, less power and structure than its neighbor De Pez, but more finesse, elegance and fruit forwardness. This impressively endowed effort should drink nicely for 10-15 years.
Tasted at Lynch-Bages and the UGC, the vineyard suffered some hail damage and some parcels lost as much as 30-40% of the crop and the yield which is 44hl/ha. The Les Ormes de Pez is a blend of 57% Cabernet Sauvignon, 45% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot raised in 45% new oak. It has a very sensual, very pure bouquet with dark cherries, boysenberry, wild hedgerow, mint and a touch of vanilla, much more feminine than the wines of the past. The palate is medium-bodied with succulent tannins on the entry, very good ripeness here and the Cabernet Sauvignon is really in harmony with the ripe Merlot. Voluminous and silky smooth towards the finish, this is an outstanding Les Ormes de Pez. Drink 2015- Tasted March 2011.
A wine with lots of flesh and chewy tannins. Full and round, with a lovely texture and finish. Long. These guys are on a roll here. Cazes family of Lynch-Bages. 57 percent Cabernet Sauvignon, 34 percent Merlot, 7 percent Cabernet Franc and 2 percent Petit Verdot
