It was recently announced that Louis Roederer had sold this estate to the Far East and this 2010 should encourage its new proprietors that this estate can produce very fine Bordeaux. The 2010 was very promising in barrel. Now in bottle, it offers a very refined, almost understated nose that has been “tempered” during maturation, even though those cedar and pencil shaving notes are still present and correct. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins. It is very well balanced with a touch of spice on the entry, fine weight in the middle and a classic, rather austere, graphite finish. It might lack the finesse of a top growth, but there is good substance and “solidity” to this Bernadotte. Tasted November 2012.
Recently sold to a Chinese entrepreneur, in 2010 this estate produced a blend of 52% Cabernet Sauvignon and 48% Merlot. The wine is deep and clearly a sleeper of the vintage, with loads of fruit, glycerin and extract. Its excellent purity and loads of spice box as well as red and black currants make for a delicious, impressively endowed wine to drink over the next 10-12 years.
A member of the Alliance des Crus Bourgeois du Medoc.
A balanced and friuity wine with mineral, dried flowers and berries Medium to full body, with fine tannins. 50 Cabernet Sauvignon and 50 percent Merlot.
Deep garnet colored, the 2010 La Bernadotte opens with a beguiling perfume of plum preserves, blueberry compote and blackcurrant pastilles plus hints of potpourri and dried lavender. Medium to full-bodied, the palate has a fair bit of chew defining the muscular black fruits, finishing with a lively lift. 2020 - 2033
Dark crimson. Scented with just the slightest hint of green. Sweet start and very luscious. Dramatic and crowd-pleasing with real potential for development. Neat finish. Shiny and should be VGV.
Good smooth fruit, good tannins, shows the closeness of the vineyards to Pauillac. Drink 2015-22.
The 2010 is a solidly made, atypically powerful La Bernadotte from the owners of Pichon-Lalande. It displays notes of white chocolate, cedar, black currants and strong earthy undertones. Medium-bodied and fresh, it should drink nicely for 10-15 years.
A blend of 51.5% Cabernet Sauvignon and 48.5% Merlot clocking in at 13.7% alcohol, this has a lifted, quite assertive nose with blackberry, a touch of briary, cedar and pencil shavings. The palate is medium-bodied with firm, slightly grainy tannins, just a little hardness at the moment but that should dissipate by the time of bottling. It is a little austere and conservative towards the finish but very good weight. Masculine. Drink 2013-2020. Tasted March 2011.
