Tasting Notes

(Egon Müller Scharzhofberger Riesling Auslese #4) AP: 04 10. This is delicately honeyed and offers a great nose of fresh slightly exotic fruits as well as notes of white flowers and a gentle hint of smoke. The wine is delicately creamy on the palate, with great sappy acidity in the background and superb length. This is a beautiful, nicely balanced Auslese which comes over as slightly softer than the AP 8 at this stage. 2019-2039
(Egon Müller Scharzhofberger Riesling Auslese #8) AP: 08 10. This is wine heaven. Still quite closed, it offers the most glorious nose of pear, fresh apple, mirabelle, pineapple, laurel and smoke. The wine is just so impeccably balanced on the palate, with great freshness and a gently oily touch to add depth to the overall feel. The wine is tactile but at the same time very Saar, with beautifully integrated but firm acidity. The sensation of cream and liqueur goes right through the finish, which remains nevertheless breathtakingly pure. This is a grandiose Auslese, with a great future. 2024-2044
