Gosh, I see I have been lucky enough to taste this four times, three of them sublime. This was a lovely tawny, fox-reddish colour and was wonderfully creamy-textured with bitter orange flavours plus almonds/marzipan notes, Great freshness and vibrancy. Wonderful richness. A great bottle of Yquem.
Tasted at Christies' boardroom dinner. This is a marvellous bottle of Yquem whose quality surpassed everyone's expectations. A deep amber, Barsac-like colour. The nose is simple gorgeous with barley sugar, overripe tangerine, mandarin and orange rind, all with delectable definition and focus. The palate has ethereal balance and sense of effortlessness with orange zest, Turkish delight, a hint of dried ginger and mandarin again. Not a complex Yquem, but undoubtedly transcending the limitations of the vintage with aplomb. The mouth just feels so fresh and for want of a better word "zingy" after swallowing, that you are eager for the next sip. Divine. Drink now-2015+ Tasted May 2009.
