Broody and very closed when first tasted in Nov-02. Still very backward when last tasted in Nov-04. A bright ruby/garnet core. This has much more character on the nose, developing an attractive minerally/seaweed note. That peppermint notes seems to have disappeared. The palate is very expressive: warm and supple, echoes of Tuscan decadence like Sassicaia. It does not quite have the poise of the 2000, but again it has that lovely savory, meaty finish . Needs a bit more lift on the finish. This will be really interesting in a decade's time - I would not drink this now.
