Tasting Notes

The 2023 Chardonnay Bressay Estate is bright and beautifully focused. Slate, crushed rocks, lemon confit, sage, mint and white pepper are all beautifully delineated in this vibrant, steely Chardonnay. All of this was aged in puncheon, which further accents its energy. I would not plan on opening this anytime soon. Drink: 2026-2038

The 2023 Chardonnay Bressay Estate Vineyard is made of Hyde Wente selection planted at high-density spacing and was also raised in the cigar-shaped oak barrels. It displays a touch more pigment in the glass and reveals an expressive perfume lifting with fantastic intensity on the nose, with notes of fresh herbs, wet stones, smoky earth, citrus oils, and white pineapples. The palate offers real structure, a savory grip, and fantastic length, with melon-noted fruit lasting on the palate. Drink 2025-2037.

Audrey Frick, JebDunnuck.com, July 2025

The 2023 Chardonnay Estate Vineyard comes from high-density Mt. Eden vines. Grapes were harvested from September 23 to October 1, and the wine was matured for 11 months in 26% new French oak cigare barrels, followed by six months in tank. It has a kaleidoscopic perfume of crème brûlée, panna cotta and matchstick, melon, nectarine and orange peel. The full-bodied palate is incredibly powerful and concentrated, and its exotic, tropical flavors are delivered in a luxurious, satiny texture. It's balanced by vibrant acidity and has an epically long finish. 800 cases were made. Drink: 2025-2040

Erin Brooks, Wine Advocate, September 2025

Really fresh and mineral-driven, this small-production white offers inviting flinty, herbal and crisp fruit flavors on a full body. It’s elegant in feel and offers appetizing balance, with lime zest, chalk and wild sage notes that expand on the palate. Terrific style and quality. Drink or hold.
