Tasting Notes

The 2019 Lions de Batailley, built around 62% Cabernet Sauvignon, has a tightly wound bouquet, a little stubborn at first but opening with aeration and showing good definition. The palate is fresh, succulent and tensile, offering good mineralité and a touch of orange sorbet that brightens the finish. This is a delightful Deuxième Vin.

A medium-bodied red with currants, berries and some spice. Medium-bodied with finely polished, pretty tannins that give length and beauty to this young red. Second wine of Batailley. 62% cabernet sauvignon, 33% merlot, 3% cabernet franc and 2% petit verdot. Another three to four years will bring it together nicely for drinking. Try after 2024.
