A more restrained and even cooler nose combines notes of green apple, lemon-lime and a pretty array of floral nuances. The borderline painfully intense medium weight flavors brim with minerality on the chiseled, saline and moderately dry finale that delivers excellent length and a lovely sense of balance. While this could also use a bit more depth, more will almost certainly develop if given a chance. Lovely stuff. (Drink starting 2028)
The old vine Puligny premier cru from Chartron in 2021 is exclusively Hameau de Blagny near the top of the slope. Usually there are also grapes from Folatières, Pucelles, and Cailleret, but not in 2021. These vines were planted in 1953 and deliver a wine of impressive ripeness and density with an apricot and quince fruit character accented with hints of smoke and butter. Despite the relatively light colour, the richness continues to delight on the palate, leading the wine to a lingering finish. (Drink between 2025-2040)
