Another wine that captures the essence of site, the 2004 Barolo Villero is wonderfully alive in the glass, with pulsating layers if fruit allied to imposing structure. Cloves, menthol, lavender, minerals and a host of dark fruits open up as this ample, crystalline Barolo shows off its regal breeding. I have to admit that the Villero is rarely one of my favorite wines at Brovia, but the 2004 is impossible to resist. Today it is simply breathtaking.
