Bâtard Montrachet, Louis Jadot 2022

Tasting Notes

This has not fallen clear after a recent lees stirring. Jadot stir their Grands Crus twice after the fermentations, once each in summer and autumn. There is significant weight as you would expect, almost a monolithic block, a little citrus, both lemon and lime. Impeccable length. This requires significantly more ageing but should join its fellows on the podium. Drink from 2034-2040+. Tasted: October 2023. *****

Jasper Morris MW, Inside Burgundy, January 2024

Bold and ripe on the nose, this wine has a rich density both on the nose and the palate. A thick, creamy and spicy wine, this is a real crowdpleaser, showing off its viscous texture and ripe, bordering tropical fruit, it doesn't hold back on power. There is a fine line of acidity that adds a lipsmacking balance, but this is a wine focused on generosity and immediate presence.
