The 2018 Pinot Noir Estate Block 8 is rich, sensual and beautifully layered in the glass. A wine of sensuality and texture, the Block 8 is another stellar wine in the Hirsch range. Time in the glass brings out kirsch, cinnamon, cedar, new leather and blood orange nuances that lend an exotic flair. I would cellar the 2018 for at least a few years, as it needs time to be at its best. The 2018 is positively stellar, even in the early going. The Block 8 Pinot is a blend of five parcels, each vinified separately, done with 30% stems that are not at all evident. (Drink between 2025-2038)
Hello, beautiful! Talk about a gorgeous Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir that does everything right. The 2018 Pinot Noir Block 8 reveals a lighter ruby hue to go with a wonderful perfume of black raspberries, wild strawberries, dried flowers, savory herbs, and hints of black and white pepper. Reminiscent of a Côtes de Nuits from a cool year yet also sunny vintage, it's medium-bodied and has a seamless texture, silky tannins, and a great finish. This beautiful wine is going to benefit from 4-5 years of bottle age and keep for two decades. It's not for the big, opulent, Russian River crowd out there but shines for its elegance and complexity.
