Robert Parker, Wine Advocate (176), April 2008

The 2005 Chateau Lafaurie-Peyraguey offer apricot, fig jam and touch of almond on the focused bouquet, grilled walnut coming through later. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp acidity, quite structured and almost austere in comparison with other vintages. There is good tension here, vibrant and citric with impressive mineralité towards the finish. This has great potential. Drink 2014-2035.

Medium to deep straw-gold in color, the 2005 Lafaurie-Peyraguey slowly unfurls to reveal notes of praline, burnt sugar, and dried apple with wafts of saffron and fallen leaves. Big, rich, and full-on sweet, the palate delivers just enough freshness, with a creamy texture and a long nutty / earthy finish.

Tasted blind. Mid copper. Very sweet start. Flattering and rich. Clean and direct. Dense.
Drink 2015-2032

A return to top form for this great cru. The nose is very perfumed and unctuous. The wine has great richness and beautiful concentration; not quite finished but the potential shines through. 5 Stars

Lots of dried fruits with hints of honey and spices. Full and rich with a thick, sweet, dense palate. Long, refined finish. Not the 2001, but excellent.

Impressive but simple weight of sugar. Big and round with just about enough acidity but not much subtlety. Certainly big but without any layers yet. Drink 2014-20
