On a visit to Burgundy, Clendenen was impressed by the finesse conferred by new 350-litre barrels, which he employed for this fine cuvée. There are muted red-fruit aromas, but the palate is surprisingly voluptuous and fleshy. It's polished and elegant with good if not exceptional acidity. Long and imposing, this is an outstanding Californian Pinot Noir. (Drink between 2023-2038)
