The 2015er Scharzhofberger Riesling Beerenauslese is a noble-sweet wine with a beautiful golden color and a beautifully rich, concentrated, and deeply complex nose of candied exotic fruits (mango, guava, and passion fruit), dried apricot, orange zest, lead pencil, licorice, almond cream, and orange marmalade, in some ways reminiscent of the expression of the greatest Sauternes. The wine is still extremely sweet and rich on the palate, where the impact of botrytis is enormous. The wine has astonishing density and power. While the aromatics are already firing on all cylinders, the balance is still very sweet and rich on the palate. This BA is extremely impressive.
