The nose is attractive, with watermelon, leafy lightness, fresh violets and strawberry fruit. The palate is savory and graceful, with a full body, velvety tannins soaked in peach fruit, juicy acidity and a polished aftertaste. A bracing Barolo with at least 10 years of cellaring potential, yet enjoyable now.
It is floral, a veritable bunch of flowers no less, and with a lighter mid-palate and more suppleness and openness, this is a fresh style and one with gorgeous delicacy and refinement. Even the acid and tannin sit quietly on the finish, keeping their counsel and not feeling the need to interrupt the balletic performance on the palate. Delightful and delicious, this is a thoroughly civilised wine, and it whispers of the legend of Conterno from the first moment you open it until long after the bottle is empty.
