Showing linearity and focus, the Luigi Pira 2016 Barolo Vignarionda is slightly closed upon first inspection. If you go back to the wine hours after you have opened the bottle, you will find that it has beautifully transformed and evolved. That tiny point of initial reduction serves the wine well and reminds you that this classic vintage is one with exceptional aging potential. A 4,000-bottle release, this wine offers energy and resonance. It is partially aged in French barrique and partially in botte grande. 2024-2045
Serralunga d'Alba. Tasted blind. Just mid ruby. Enticing, perfumed nose with just a hint of spicy fruit cake. Layered fruit on the palate followed by endlessly long, rich but fine tannins, carrying the juicy cherry fruit. And yet elegant rather than powerful. 14.5% Drink 2024 – 2038
